Mercy Catholic College proudly hosted its annual Illuminate Exhibition on the 20th August, showcasing the remarkable creativity and dedication of students across Years 7 to 12.
Adele and Meagan, two Year 12 students with major works on display, warmly welcomed guests including students, families, teachers, and distinguished visitors: Mayor Tanya Taylor, Tim James MP, and Father David, Vicar General of the Diocese of Broken Bay.
“Tonight you are in for a treat,” Meagan shared, “seeing the skillful, interesting and creative work of students in TAS and Visual Arts, and of course the HSC Major Projects.”
Student Reflections
Both Adele and Meagan bravely took on the challenge of completing two Major Projects each. Adele’s work in Multimedia and Society and Culture explored storytelling through film and the social impact of dogs in our society. Meagan’s projects in Textiles and Multimedia revealed her growth in technique and creative expression, supported by her teachers’ guidance.
“It was really challenging at times,” Adele reflected, “but I definitely learnt a lot—especially in managing my time and developing research and writing skills.”
“This experience was an adventure,” Meagan added. “I discovered skills I never knew I had.”
