Social Justice

We encourage students not only to speak about our Catholic values, but to live them—working alongside those who have not had the same opportunities in life. Through a balance of awareness‑raising, fundraising and hands‑on involvement, students learn what authentic outreach looks like and how they can make a meaningful difference in their community.

Opportunities for Involvement

Students participate in a wide range of social justice experiences, including:

• Overseas and domestic immersion programs
• Music performances for community organisations
• Fundraising for recognised charities
• Mercy Week activities focused on awareness and outreach
• Mercy Day outreach initiatives
• Mercy Action Group (MAG). MAG is a vibrant student‑led social justice team for those passionate about Mercy and justice in the world. MAG members meet weekly to learn about current issues, plan initiatives and take action within the College and broader community.
• Assemblies and liturgies with social justice themes. Themes often explored include homelessness, the environment, refugees and asylum seekers, reconciliation, children’s rights and care for the vulnerable.
