CSBB Pathways & Partnerships Program

At Mercy Catholic College, students have access to the CSBB Pathways & Partnerships Program, which connects learning with real-world experiences.

Through partnerships with industry, tertiary providers and community organisations, students explore career pathways, develop future-ready skills and make informed decisions about their future.

Real-World Learning & Industry Connections

Students participate in a wide range of engaging experiences that bring learning to life, including:

  • Industry immersion days
  • Enterprise and innovation projects
  • University and TAFE visits
  • Workplace learning opportunities
  • Career mentoring programs
  • Leadership and human capability workshops
  • Industry and community partnerships

Through these experiences, students gain valuable insights into potential career pathways while developing a deeper understanding of their strengths, interests and aspirations.

Personalised Career Development

The Pathways & Partnerships Program provides a structured and personalised approach to career education across all year levels.

  • Years 7-8: Building self-awareness and career curiosity.
  • Years 9-10: Exploring interests, industries and future opportunities.
  • Years 11-12: Developing personalised pathway plans for university, vocational education, apprenticeships, traineeships and employment.

Students are supported by dedicated Pathways staff who provide individual guidance and career planning assistance, helping them make informed decisions about their future.

Vocational Education and Training (VET)

As part of the CSBB network, students can access nationally recognised Vocational Education and Training (VET) pathways that contribute towards the Higher School Certificate (HSC) and are recognised within the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

VET courses combine practical, hands-on learning with workplace experience and can support pathways into:

  • University study
  • Apprenticeships and traineeships
  • School-Based Apprenticeships and Traineeships (SBATs)
  • Further vocational training
  • Direct employment opportunities

Developing Future-Ready Skills

A key focus of the program is the development of human capabilities that are increasingly valued by employers and essential for success in the 21st century.

Students strengthen skills in:

  • Creativity and innovation
  • Collaboration and teamwork
  • Communication
  • Problem-solving
  • Critical thinking
  • Adaptability and resilience

These capabilities equip students to respond confidently to future opportunities and challenges in an ever-changing world.
