Diverse Learning

At Mercy Catholic College, we are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment where every student is known, valued and supported to achieve her personal best.

We recognise that students learn in different ways and, through our inclusive model, students with diverse learning needs are supported within mainstream classroom settings wherever possible.

Our Diverse Learning Team works collaboratively with teachers, students and families to provide appropriate adjustments that enable students to access the curriculum, participate fully in school life and experience success in their learning. Support is tailored to individual needs and aims to foster confidence, independence and personal growth.

We are also committed to challenging and extending students through opportunities for enrichment, with High Potential and Gifted students supported by both classroom teachers and the Diverse Learning Team. Accelerated subject pathways are available for students who demonstrate advanced aptitude and readiness for additional academic challenge.

Where appropriate, and in consultation with parents and carers, targeted small-group instruction may be provided to support specific learning needs and help students build key skills and confidence.

To ensure the best possible support for each student, we encourage families to share relevant information during the enrolment process. This allows us to develop a clear understanding of each student’s strengths, needs and aspirations from the outset.
