Our 2022 Careers EXPO was a huge success providing nearly 500 students and carers/parents from the Mercy College Community as well as other schools including neighbouring St Pius, the chance to have their questions answered about the diverse range of study, gap year and career paths available beyond school. Fortunately the weather was kind enough to hold our event outdoors again this year with over 30 exhibitor stands featuring a wide range of external providers situated around the perimeter of our multi-court area. Many of our exhibitors committed to showcasing their offerings through audience presentations with the Universities attracting large numbers of interested students. We were keen to host a wide range of providers to offer mainstream and alternative post-school pathways, firm in our belief that we need to cater for a large range of pathway interests amongst our girls. More than ever before, the girls saw on display the great variety of pathways that they can choose to become successful flourishing citizens. Our registration data clearly showed a significant interest in Vocational Educational Pathways, which is also trending statewide. We are committed to challenging the notion that there exists a single linear pathway to job success through University, instead believing that alternative pathways offer excellent career pathway progression, benefiting all of our girls. We look forward to offering school-based Vocational Training Pathways (SBATS) in the future at Mercy College. |
